The United States and Bahrain distributed to members of the UN Security Council a first draft of a joint resolution concerning the lifting of Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Similar to previous proposals submitted on the matter, the current proposal does not refer to Israel at all and focuses solely on Iran. According to the draft resolution, the countries determined that Iran's actions constitute a threat to international peace and security, and that other countries (UN members) will not assist Iran in closing the strait or collecting fees that were defined as 'illegal.' The final draft is expected to be submitted on Friday, May 8, following negotiations that will officially open during the day.
