Holocaust survivor Yehuda Aharon Vidovsky, who dedicated his life to restoring Jewish cemeteries in Poland, has died at the age of 107. Vidovsky was Israel's oldest Holocaust survivor. He was born in 1919 in the town of Turek, located near Lodz in central Poland, to a religious Zionist family. He survived Auschwitz and Nazi forced labor camps, immigrated to Israel in 1950, and in 1978 returned to Poland where he dedicated decades to locating, documenting and restoring Jewish cemeteries and graves. He helped identify more than 3,000 graves, became a central figure in the field, and in 2012 was chosen to light a torch at the state Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony.
