Iran rejected the proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the war and demanded a permanent ceasefire. This emerges from the response delivered to Pakistan, which is serving as a mediator in the contacts. The IRNA news agency reported that "after two weeks of review, Iran sent its response to the American proposal to end the war through Pakistan. The response consists of 10 clauses and includes a reaffirmation of its rejection of a 'temporary ceasefire' and emphasizes the need for a permanent end to the war, while taking its comments into account." It was further reported that Iran demands "an end to the wars in the region, establishment of a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction and removal of sanctions."
