Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob declared victory in the country's parliamentary elections after his party defeated the party of former Prime Minister Janez Janša, who is considered a supporter of Israel and U.S. President Donald Trump. "Since we have received the trust of the people, we can now look forward to progress," said Golob, who described the vote as one "for democracy." His party, the Freedom Movement (GS), garnered 28.62% of the vote and secured 29 seats after counting 99.85% of ballots – just one seat more than Janša's SDS party, which received 27.95% of the vote, in elections that saw a high turnout of about 70%.
