British ambassador to UN: 'US strike on Iran - decisive moment. Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons'

|
British Ambassador Barbara Woodward said at the emergency Security Council meeting convened following the American strike on Iran that "this is a decisive moment for the region. Further escalation could lead to serious risks to peace and stability – both regional and international. We have repeatedly made clear: Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran's nuclear program poses a real threat to global peace and security. The United States acted yesterday to reduce this threat. We call on Iran to exercise restraint, and for all parties to return to the negotiating table."
