IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir met with Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar and confirmed that the Air Force commander change will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the IDF announced. The handover date was postponed due to Operation Lion's Roar, and now Maj. Gen. Bar will complete his tenure after more than four years. He will be succeeded by Brig. Gen. Omer Tishler. The Chief of Staff emphasized that the change is conditional on the operational security assessment.
