French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu referred to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, saying the US operation "is not legal." According to him, "Everything in this case is illegal. Maduro's regime, the 2024 elections and the American military operation that contradicts the UN Charter." He called for a "democratic transition" to power under Edmundo González Urrutia, the opposition leader whom France considers the elected president of Venezuela in 2024.
