European leaders reached an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump to increase sanctions on Russia, following the American president's conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A German government spokesperson provided the update after Trump's briefing with European leaders. "It was agreed to closely coordinate the negotiation process, and the parties confirmed their desire to closely accompany Ukraine on the path to a ceasefire," the statement said.
