Under US pressure: Allenby crossing to reopen 3 months after attack by Jordanian terrorist

|
Almost three months after it was closed following the attack in which Lt. Col. (Res.) Yitzhak Harosh and Sgt. Oren Hershko were killed, a security source updated that the Allenby crossing will reopen tomorrow under government directive - after the US pressured on the issue of transferring goods and aid from Jordan to the West Bank and Gaza Strip. According to the security source, in recent weeks, the required security adjustments were made at the crossing, both on the Israeli side and on the Jordanian side, and the security screening procedures for Jordanian drivers and truck contents have been tightened. Diplomatic sources claimed that "the Jordanians implemented the security changes we demanded - and beyond. They have greatly intensified inspections and took it very seriously. Every truck that enters will be escorted and undergo rigorous inspection."
