Israeli attacked in London after speaking Hebrew on street: 'I thought I was going to die'

|
London police are searching for five attackers who assaulted a 22-year-old Israeli man who was speaking Hebrew in the Golders Green neighborhood, and are treating the incident, which left the victim with cuts and bruises on his face and body, as an antisemitic hate crime. The young man left an apartment in the neighborhood, which is associated with the Jewish community, at 2:00 a.m. to talk on the phone and avoid disturbing his roommates. Five masked individuals who were speaking Arabic walked nearby, heard him, dragged him across the road and beat him brutally until he nearly lost consciousness. The young man told the British-Jewish newspaper Jewish Chronicle: "I thought I was going to die."
