White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt addressed Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and told reporters at a briefing that "President Trump will not allow rogue Iranian terrorists to stop the freedom of navigation and the free flow of energy. If they do anything to stop the flow of oil or goods, they will be attacked by the most powerful military in the world with a force 20 times greater than that which has been used against them so far." On rising oil prices, she said: "When the national security objectives of the operation are fully achieved, Americans will see oil and gas prices drop rapidly, even to lower levels than those before the operation began."
