Brazil: Former President Bolsonaro appeals conviction for coup planning

|
Lawyers for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro have filed an appeal and request for review of the Supreme Court's verdict, which sentenced him to 27 years in prison for planning an attempted coup after losing the 2022 election to incumbent President Lula da Silva. In the 85-page request, the lawyers asked to reconsider parts of the conviction, including the prison sentence. The request did not specify the extent of sentence reduction Bolsonaro is seeking.
