Indictment: Bat Yam resident systematically defrauded elderly victims, stealing their money and property

|
The Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment with the court against Oleg Pogosian, 31, from Bat Yam, who was part of an organized fraud network known as 'The Russian Sting,' which operates against Russian-speaking elderly people across the country. The indictment reveals that members of the network would contact elderly individuals by phone and falsely present themselves as representatives of the National Insurance Institute, the Tax Authority, banks and other entities. After gaining their trust, they would instruct them to gather cash, jewelry and valuable property and transfer them to a representative on their behalf. The indictment charges Pogosian with conspiracy to commit a crime, obtaining property by fraud under aggravating circumstances in association with others, impersonation, theft and other offenses.
