IDF official: 'Hamas is playing games - will keep hostages'

A senior IDF official responsible for managing operations in the Gaza Strip said that "Hamas will not return all the hostages at once - they will play games, but will always keep some hostages in their possession. What will bring them to a deal is military pressure." The official noted that Israel is moving toward a decisive victory, as "it cannot allow a situation where Hamas remains in Gaza." According to him, Hamas has managed to produce hundreds more short-range rockets and dozens aimed at central Israel. The official also detailed the stages of defeating Hamas: destroying the military wing, damaging governance capabilities, conquering and holding territory, and controlling humanitarian aid while separating it from Hamas.
