International Sociological Association suspends Israeli Association: 'Due to genocide in Gaza'

|
The International Sociological Association (ISA) has announced its decision to suspend the collective membership of the Israeli Sociological Society (ISS). "The ISA reiterates its statement that as part of its public stance against the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, it has no institutional ties with Israeli public institutions. We regret that the Israeli Sociological Society has not taken a clear position condemning the dramatic situation," the statement said. Prof. Michal Frenkel, a sociologist from the Hebrew University, responded that while the Israeli government "is committing terrible war crimes" against Palestinians, she criticized the ISA's decision: "Self-righteousness and groundless self-importance."
