An explosion occurred in front of a synagogue in the city of Liege in eastern Belgium at 4:00 a.m. (local time). According to the local police, who noted there were no casualties in the incident, windows of buildings opposite the synagogue were shattered by the blast. According to the French-language Belgian public broadcaster RTBF, the background to the explosion is still unclear, but the mayor of Liege claimed it was a "criminal and anti-Semitic" act.
