The US and Iran are close to an agreement on a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war, as Washington considered a new round of strikes in the Islamic Republic. This was stated by two regional officials and a diplomat to the Associated Press. It was also reported that the officials and diplomat expressed hope that a final decision regarding the draft prepared by Pakistan could be reached within 48 hours, after review by both sides. The officials added that US Vice President JD Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner played significant roles in helping to bridge the remaining gaps, and that Qatar played a key role.
