Preliminary Approval Granted for Bill to Increase MKs and Ministers' Salaries

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has given preliminary approval to a bill proposed by Likud MK Avichai Boaron to equalize the salaries of ministers and Knesset members with those of judges. The bill also establishes a public committee that will determine the salaries of the three branches of government: judicial, legislative and executive. According to the plan, an identical salary scale for judges and Knesset members will be established based on seniority or rank, however, under this law, MKs' salaries will not decrease - but rather increase.
