National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called on IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi to "clarify with his own voice that he will fully comply with the political leadership's instructions if a decision is made on conquest and decisive victory," amid threats of his dismissal. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar addressed these comments, backed Halevi and stated that "the Chief of Staff is required to express his professional position to the political leadership without hesitation, and I am convinced he will do so." Sa'ar added that the Chief of Staff "is not required to clarify the military's subordination to government decisions."
