All desalination plants in Israel have resumed operations for the first time since malfunctions began in August. However, only the Hadera desalination plant is operating at full capacity, while all others are functioning at 40% to 50% capacity. Israel has six desalination plants, all privately owned: Ashkelon, Palmachim, Sorek A, Sorek B, Ashdod and Hadera. The malfunction began following the migration of algae from the Nile Delta region and primarily affected farmers.
