Former Democratic Senator and 'Saturday Night Live' star Al Franken, along with 20 Jewish-American leaders, announced their support for Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate candidate from Michigan, who has faced criticism from the Jewish community for his positions against Israel. In an open letter, the former senator and other signatories acknowledged that El-Sayed's positions 'have raised concern,' but said they are less extreme than has been claimed. El-Sayed is a vocal opponent of U.S. military aid to Israel and has accused the IDF of 'genocide.'
