European Broadcasting Union discusses without voting, Israel not expelled from Eurovision

Ran Boker|
The General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) held a discussion in London regarding Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, which ended without a vote, and for now it was decided that Israel will remain in the competition. The discussion lasted about an hour and a half, with Iceland and Slovenia showing great hostility toward Israel and leading an anti-Israeli line. The only countries that publicly stood up to support Israel were Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The BBC representing Britain asked to avoid a vote and supported the talks process. Sources in the union told ynet that "if the war continues in winter for the continuation of discussions, Israel will find it difficult to remain in Eurovision. Many countries are against it."
