Finance Minister issues order to ease indirect import of vehicles to Israel

Gad Lior|
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has published for public comment an order designed to ease restrictions on indirect importers of vehicles and encourage competition in the Israeli market. The order establishes a mechanism whereby purchase tax will be calculated according to a predetermined amount for each vehicle category, rather than as a percentage of the actual import price, as is currently done. The order will apply to private vehicles priced up to 300,000 shekels, excluding electric vehicles.
