Deputy Attorney General Sharon Afek is demanding that National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir allow the processing of one thousand confidentiality requests that remain unhandled by him, which are delaying further legal proceedings. From the letter sent by Afek, it appears that Ben Gvir decided to change the policy that has been in practice for nine years, and is not exercising his authority to sign confidentiality certificates. "Meanwhile, more than a thousand confidentiality requests have accumulated, including hundreds of urgent ones that are not being processed. As a result, there is serious and ongoing damage to law enforcement proceedings, including judicial decisions regarding the release of dangerous detainees," wrote Afek, who asks the minister to act immediately in order to "prevent continued harm to law enforcement and public safety."
