UN approves resolution calling for cease-fire in Gaza - without demand for hostage release

|
The UN General Assembly approved a resolution initiated by Spain calling for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, without any binding demand for the release of hostages and without condemning Hamas terrorism. The resolution was approved by a majority of 149 countries voting in favor, while 19 abstained and 12 opposed. Israel's ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said: "Every country supporting this resolution must ask itself one question: why couldn't you include even one word condemning Hamas?"
