IDF decision due to combat soldier burnout: Extension of compulsory service cancelled

Yoav Zitun|
The IDF has reversed its decision and cancelled the requirement for commandos, previously revealed by ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, to sign for additional mandatory service due to soldier shortages and combat fighter burnout. Instead, every soldier in reconnaissance or elite units will be discharged on their original date, following the principle of "not changing the rules during the game." According to the decision, soldiers who have not yet enlisted in infantry reconnaissance units will be required to serve 4 additional months of mandatory service after completing their compulsory service, while fighters in elite units such as the Commando Brigade and other special forces who have not yet enlisted will sign for 8 to 12 months of additional service.
