German citizen Caroline Vilga (26), who arrived in Australia for a hiking trip and disappeared on June 29, was found in a remote area in the northwest of the country. Vilga was located at the end of an extensive search operation that began after her vehicle was found abandoned. According to local police, she suffered some injuries and was "eaten to a devastating degree" by mosquitoes. She was evacuated to a hospital in Perth, Western Australia.
