A security source told AFP news agency that "the secret Israeli base was built in Iraq on an abandoned runway, which was established by Saddam Hussein." The source added that "the operation was carried out in coordination with the U.S., there are no more forces on the ground." According to another security source, "there are indications that the operation included an Israeli technical team under American military auspices," and confirmed the presence of CH-57 Chinook helicopters at the site. According to him, equipment was left behind, including radar, and the base's location "was carefully chosen to avoid Iranian fire."
