An IDF investigation into the October 7 failures at Kibbutz Kerem Shalom revealed that the severe attack on the nearby 'Amiti' camp, half of which was captured, prevented the Kerem Shalom company and reserve company from deploying to defend settlements. The investigation noted that the 934th Battalion deputy commander's decision to concentrate forces and reserves on defending Kerem Shalom delayed the attack and reduced the number of infiltrating terrorists. According to the probe, Air Force operations struck many terrorists around the kibbutz, significantly reducing damage to it. However, the Air Force's deployment was insufficient relative to the scale of the attack.
