|
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Yehuda Peer, a 30-year-old Israeli citizen residing in Pennsylvania, was charged with illegally voting in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. According to the department's statement, Peer holds a green card that allows him to live and work permanently in the U.S., but he is not an American citizen and is therefore not permitted to vote. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and a fine. Peer is one of nine foreign nationals charged with illegal voting in elections held in 2022 and 2024, with defendants also including citizens of Russia, Poland, Cuba, Kenya, Greece and the Netherlands.
