Government to mark October 7 massacre anniversary only on Hebrew date

Itamar Eichner|
The government will mark the anniversary of the October 7 massacre only on the Hebrew date - the 24th of Tishrei - which falls on October 16 this year, meaning no state ceremony will be held on 10/7. Therefore, a national memorial day for the massacre and the "Iron Swords" war will be held only on the 16th, in accordance with last year's decision, when it was determined that in the first year, a one-time ceremony would be held on the Gregorian date when Hamas invaded the Gaza envelope. The memorial day will be marked with two state ceremonies at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem: at 11:00 a ceremony will be held in memory of those who fell in the war, and at 13:00 a ceremony in memory of civilians killed in hostile actions.
