Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Yuli Edelstein, criticized the ultra-Orthodox lawmakers, telling them: "Either there will be a real draft law – or there will be nothing." In closed conversations, Edelstein said he anticipated from the start that they would not agree to the draft law he presented to them and that he would not be willing to compromise or amend the law following their withdrawal from the coalition. According to him, what the ultra-Orthodox received in the law is the maximum he can defend. "I do not intend to give up on the draft law. And as I have always said - there will not be a draft evasion law with me, only a draft law," he added.
