Thousands protested in the city of Novi Sad in northern Serbia to mark the deaths of 16 people in 2024 following the collapse of a canopy at a train station and to demand early elections and an end to President Aleksandar Vučić's 13-year rule. The protesters, the opposition and human rights organizations claimed that the train station disaster is evidence of broader mismanagement by the government in construction projects and corruption. "We must stand our ground, express our will and win. We have no other choice," one protester said.
