Knesset Member Merav Ben-Ari (Yesh Atid) sent a letter to Government Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara requesting the opening of a criminal investigation against Minister Bezalel Smotrich. In her letter, she noted that the request came following Smotrich's remarks, according to which Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit is "a violent megalomaniac who has stolen Israeli democracy. The result will be that we will run him over." According to Ben-Ari, "This is an extreme statement that includes incitement, an implied threat of violence and a serious violation of the rule of law. There is a real concern about criminal offenses. These statements have a dangerous potential to inflame passions and encourage physical harm."
