Reuters: Irish Football Association to demand UEFA expel Israel from competitions

|
The Football Association of Ireland voted to submit a formal request to UEFA (European Football Associations Union), demanding Israel's expulsion from European competitions - both at national team and club levels. This was reported by Reuters news agency from a source who participated in the meeting. The proposal, initiated by Bohemians club, passed with a majority of 74 votes in favor, against seven opponents and two abstentions. It is claimed that the Israeli Football Association violates two separate UEFA regulations: allowing football clubs to exist beyond the Green Line without obtaining approval from the Palestinian Football Association; and allegedly failing to implement an effective policy against racism.
