Iran used Claude in attempt to locate and attack US Navy ships

|
Iran used artificial intelligence models developed in the United States in an attempt to locate and attack US Navy ships in the Middle East. This was revealed in a report by AI company Anthropic, which warned of national security threats and indicated that a group linked to Iran gathered information from transmitters, military photographs and commercial satellite imagery to track American warships and search for vulnerabilities in their onboard communication systems. According to Anthropic, the group used the Claude chatbot to process and analyze the information. The company also reported that Tehran used Claude to build campaigns, target databases and fake accounts, and during the war against Israel attributed false claims to Western research institutes, including CSIS and Brookings, in order to present them as credible.
