Yuval Cohen (23), who was critically injured in a road accident in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand about a week ago, has been pronounced dead. Yuval was flown back to Israel a few days ago while sedated and ventilated. Five other Israelis, all in their 20s, were also injured in the accident. The National Transplant Center stated that "Yuval was flown to Israel at his family's request after it was clarified that he was brain dead. The flight was intended to fulfill Yuval's wish to donate organs in Israel. Upon his arrival at Beilinson Hospital, and following rigorous medical procedures to determine respiratory brain death according to law, a journey of saving lives began." Additionally, it was noted that his heart was transplanted to a 67-year-old man at Sheba Hospital, his liver to a 62-year-old woman at Beilinson, one kidney to a 17-year-old at Schneider, and another kidney at Hadassah.
