Defense Minister Israel Katz released a video addressed to Iran's Jewish community ahead of the holiday, in which he said: "Next year in Tehran freed from oppression and tyranny." The minister went on to warn Iran's leadership, saying that "any attack on Israel, for any reason and from anywhere, will be met with a powerful response - including strikes on its main energy facilities." He added: "Such a blow will set Iran back decades and further destabilize the ayatollahs' regime that the Iranian people so despise and yearn to see fall."
