Report from France: Macron to announce recognition of Palestinian state next Monday

|
Le Figaro correspondent Georges Malbrunot reported that French President Emmanuel Macron plans to announce recognition of a Palestinian state next Monday around 9:30 PM Paris time, during Rosh Hashanah, in a speech he will deliver at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This was confirmed to the newspaper by a knowledgeable diplomatic source. Malbrunot claims this recognition will be "unconditional." However, former Jewish parliamentarian Meyer Habib states that Macron told him in a conversation that the recognition would come with conditions. Meanwhile, Jewish community leaders met with Macron in what was described as a "very tense" meeting, where the French president refused to back down from recognizing a Palestinian state.
