Hostage survivor Sharon Cunio, wife of captive David Cunio, said at a rally in Hostages Square that "David and all the other hostages are still there because some chose to miss opportunities, stall, drag their feet, sabotage and insist on selective deals. They are there because someone chose to abandon them." According to her, "Now, when the eternal war mongers are pushing all of us toward a terrible disaster, they're not even pretending it's for the hostages. They openly declare that they are willing to sacrifice the hostages."
