Between January 2024 and July 2025, 279 soldiers attempted suicide, according to a new report by the Knesset Research and Information Center prepared at the request of MK Ofer Cassif. The report indicates that for every soldier who died by suicide, seven suicide attempts were documented. Additionally, in 2024, the proportion of combat soldiers among all soldiers who died by suicide increased significantly, reaching 78%. The main data in the document was provided by the Mental Health Services Center of the Medical Corps, along with information collected from Knesset committee discussions. The report noted that the data on soldier suicides only relates to those who were in active service at the time of suicide (regular service, career or reserve duty) and does not include those who died by suicide after completing their service.
