Macron: 'Condition for opening Palestinian embassy - release of hostages'

|
French President Emmanuel Macron demanded in a video posted on X the release of hostages held by Hamas as a condition for opening an embassy in the Palestinian state. In his remarks, Macron mentioned the pain of the hostages' families and the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip. He said that France's expected announcement tomorrow at the UN General Assembly recognizing a Palestinian state is "a roadmap for peace - that Israel will recognize Palestine and vice versa." He also said that the new state should not be Hamas and should be demilitarized.
