The Knesset Internal Affairs Committee approved for second and third reading a bill proposed by MK Dan Iluz (Likud), in collaboration with MKs Oded Forer and Hanoch Milvitzky, which would ban terror supporters from leadership positions in local government. The law aims to correct a distortion whereby someone who supported terrorism and was even convicted of it could be elected as mayor or city council member. The bill is expected to come up for final vote in the Knesset plenum in the coming days.
