Lt. Col. Aryeh Amidror, son of retired Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror, who also served as head of the National Security Council, is the officer who served as deputy commander of the Gaza Division on October 7. His name was cleared for publication by the Supreme Court at Ynet's request, against the backdrop of the IDF's dismissal proceedings against him from career service – nearly three years after the massacre. Previously, the chief of staff determined that Amidror, who until now could only be published as 'Lt. Col. A.,' bears responsibility for the massacre. The High Court of Justice ruling stated that 'in the absence of a security obstacle to publishing the petitioner's name, considering the public interest in publishing the name – there is no reason to keep the publication ban in place.'
