Russian authorities banned women from cleaning oil that spilled onto the Black Sea coast in the city of Tuapse following strikes by Ukrainian drones on a local refinery, citing "concerns for women's reproductive health." This was reported by the Russian newspaper Kommersant. According to the report, the decision sparked outrage among some women, who were quoted in the newspaper as saying: "We will decide for ourselves what to do with our reproductive health." Authorities promised to clean up the contaminated beach by the start of summer season on June 1.
