Defense Minister Israel Katz addressed the return to Israel of the body of kidnapped Ilan Weiss and the body of another kidnapped person whose name has not yet been cleared for publication. Katz conveyed deep condolences to Weiss's family on behalf of the defense establishment and added that he "heroically led the defensive battle in the kibbutz (Be'eri) and prevented a greater disaster, alongside other heroes."
