Emily Damari, who was kidnapped from her home in the Dor Tza'ir neighborhood of Kfar Aza on October 7, managed to hide from her captors throughout her 471 days in captivity that she had served as a career Border Police officer. During the "Women on the Frontline" panel at the State's Women Conference organized by ynet and "Yedioth Ahronoth" in April 2023, Emily, then a staff sergeant in the Hebron Border Police, spoke about her pride in serving in the unit. "We always need to prove ourselves a little more," she said when referring to the equal service in the unit, which according to her has 45% female personnel.
