Israeli Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Yossi Shelley was summoned for a reprimand during which Abu Dhabi strongly condemned what it described as "shameful and offensive violations and practices against Palestinians that occurred in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City." During the censure meeting, which took place against the backdrop of disturbances in the city on Jerusalem Day, it was also stated that "these arbitrary practices constitute serious provocation and incitement against Muslims and a blatant violation of the sanctity of the holy city."
