The prosecution filed an indictment at the Haifa Magistrate's Court against Khamis Suwaid, 30, from Hussniyya, a Bedouin village in the Western Galilee, for training or instruction for terrorist purposes, after he acted to prepare himself to join the ISIS organization and fight in its ranks abroad. The indictment states that from 2023 until his arrest last August, Suwaid, who served in the IDF from 2017 to 2019, showed growing interest in ISIS and developed an ideological identification with the organization. In 2024, he decided to travel to Syria or Africa and join the organization's ranks, and to that end watched content and lessons by its senior members and saved money. During 2024, Suwaid downloaded manuals and watched videos on the production of missiles and drones, use of weapons and military tactics.
