US Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the establishment of a peacekeeping force for the Gaza Strip during a press conference at a US Army base in Kiryat Gat, saying it "includes more than 24 countries, including Muslim nations that have committed that Gaza will not be controlled by Hamas." According to Rubio, "If Hamas refuses to disarm, it will be a violation of the agreement and this will be enforced. Israel is meeting its commitments. We hope to create conditions where Hamas has no control and people, this won't happen next week. But we want to create conditions so people don't fear Hamas." Regarding Turkey's involvement, Rubio said the international force will consist of "countries Israel is comfortable with."
